Well this was all going very nicely. The auction was days away and word had to’ve gotten out through the right underworld grapevines. So far no GUN troops had come snooping around. Still that didn’t mean Coal was any more relaxed. This whole show had him a nervous wreck, paranoid of the door being kicked in at any moment. From behind the bar, his foot tapped to the music flooding his precious Nevermore. It was busy, as it usually was. Lights fading between midnight blue to neon red and every color in between from under glass floors. Stairways at either end of the dance floor leading to the upper level with a DJ booth positioned between them. A very chic design, he thought. He’d spent years working towards this place and couldn’t bear to lose it. This auction was a great idea to bring in attention and a truckload of Rings but it carried risks. Criminals would be criminals and he didn’t doubt many of his potential buyers were already planning to try and steal the gem before paying for it. What he needed was muscle, security. More than ever.

Given how busy Nevermore usually was, it wasn't uncommon to see a small scuffle between patrons every now and then. Down in the crowd of people, it seemed like one such scuffle was happening which resulted in one party-goer solidly colliding with another patron who had their back turned. The patron in question, a stocky badger looking fellow, slowly turned around to face the person who bumped into him. He held an empty glass and a massive scowl as a very large wet spot covered his face and ran down his shirt. The other patron started talking, inaudible over the drumming music that ran through the club before the Badger suddenly drove his own forehead down against the other's face in a solid headbutt. Almost immediately afterward, the badger had his hands gripping the stunned patron's collar and hurled them head over heels into and out of the main doors. After a rude gesture or two, the badger stomped through the parting crowd and back over the the bar, still bristling as he roughly tapped a few rings down against the counter. "Yo, Barkeep! Gimmie a Honey cider." He grumbled as he slid onto a bar stool, leaning an elbow on the counter.

This was his lucky day it seemed. Rough around the edges to be sure but perhaps that’s what he needed. Scooping up the rings, Coal got to work on the drink but before that he slid a few napkins across the bar towards the gruff looking badger. “You know normally I’d object to people being forcefully ejected from my club by someone not working for me. Fortunately for you I may have a way to rectify that, if you’re interested.” The bird smirked as he offered the drink.

The Badger grumpily used the back of his hand to wipe a bead of what used to be his drink off the side of his chin. When offered the napkins, he grabbed a few in a lump with his hand and rubbed them against his shirt. "Yeah? Well it was gonna be that or smearin' the chump 'cross your shiny floor." He scoffed as he set down the wad of napkins in front of him. The Badger took the cider in his hand and nearly emptied the glass in one go. He licked the corner of his mouth in thought, giving the bird across the counter a good look over. "Depends on what you're talking about...and how nice it rings."

Coal waited patiently, drumming his fingers along the black marble bar as his potential new employee enjoyed his drink. His smirk spread into a grin at the show of interest. “I’m holding a…private function, a few days from now.” He chose his words. On the off chance this guy had a loud mouth or worse was some kind of undercover agent, best not to let on too much. “And I’m looking for a few extra hands on deck as it were, just incase someone tries to dine and dash.” The crow spread his arms wide, motioning to the rest of the club. “Money is good so I’m certain we can decide on a decent pay, assuming you’re competent at the work.”

"So... just stand around and make sure nobody tries nothin' funny..." The badger rocked the glass in his hands back and forth a few times before finishing off his drink. This job sounded like a walk in the park. A long, boring, walk. But money was money, and the easier the better. He set down his glass with a klunk and leaned back, folding his arms. A toothy, bemused grin spread across his face. "Well you're in luck, pal. Looks like you need yourself a bouncer and that chump you saw flyin' earlier was stinkin' child's play. So what kind of decent pay are we talking about? Expertise like this don't come cheap."

With a wry snicker the crow stepped over to the cash register, popping it open and digging out a few handfuls of Rings. “...fourty...fourty five…fifty.” And dumping them in a bag, holding it out to the badger. “Consider it a down payment to guarantee you actually show. Plenty more if you do the job well…Of course you can take this and run but don’t think I won’t find you.” He offered a smug smirk. “And your name?”

The badger pretended to nonchalantly pay no attention to the rings, but still kept an ear out counting along with the bartender. He scooped up the bag of rings, weighing it in his hand before pocketing it. Not bad for a starting fee. Sounds like this guy was serious. "Name's Recks." He jabbed a thumb to his chest. "And you're dead wrong if you think I'm gonna chicken out of a deal. 10% down or not." Recks leaned forward, tapping a sternly pointed finger down onto the countertop. "Just let me know a time and place, and I'll gladly beat some sense into any snooty idiot who makes a scene."
