Oooh boy I hope I'm doing this right. Here is my submission for Dr. Robotnik, and I hope that everything is in proper order. My apologies if not, I'm still figuring this all out, and all I ask for is patience.
Anyway.... behold! A REALLY rotten egg!
-----
Name: Dr. Robotnik (Julian Kintobor)
Nicknames: The Doctor, Iron Lips, The Big Round Guy, Moonhead, and most famously, “Robuttnik”
Species: Human Cyborg
Gender: Male
Age: 55
Alignment: Chaotic Evil with Lawful Evil goals.
Height: 6’6 ft.
Residence: Robotropolis.
Occupation: Tyrant of Mobius
Personality: A ruthless, sadistic megalomaniac through and through, Robotnik is the kind of man for whom the term ‘God Complex’ was tailor-made for. Any pretension of politeness or courtesy from the man is little more than a deception designed to lull others into a false sense of security, a manipulation done for the sake of his own goals rather than anything genuine- before his superhuman arrogance and pride, other creatures do not truly exist to him beyond their potential use as fodder for his roboticizer or targets to be eliminated.
As dead inside as any of his machines, Robotnik relishes the control he exerts over others and commits himself to cruel deeds with a kind of glee that few creatures can match, reveling in the ruination and pain that he inflicts on other creatures and the world around him. In this Robotnik does not discriminate- species, race, religion, age, gender, like death itself Robotnik comes for anyone and everyone sooner or later. Everyone is fair game for his ambitions. There exist only two categories of people in Robotnik’s world- you can either become a cog in the great machine he is turning Mobius into, or you can be ground between its gears into oblivion.
What few realize about Robotnik is that it isn’t rulership that he desires, but control. Robotnik doesn’t want to RULE the world or its people. He doesn’t crave subjects or even slaves, for even a slave is too unpredictable and willful for his tastes- Robotnik’s vision of perfection is a lifeless and dead planet built upon machine servitude and perfection, driven by a single guiding intelligence… namely his. For of all the minds to grace the planet, only Robotnik’s is worthy of guiding the destiny of the planet. In his view, organic life and free will is a cruel and terrible joke, the perpetuation of a cancerous, chaotic state of existence that brings only calamity and inefficiency. This in turn fuels his extreme loathing of nature, which personifies the chaos he despises so and gives his fleshy enemies a refuge from the perfection he promises. As such, he goes out of his way to despoil nature whenever possible. He even loathes his own organic qualities, and only his raw paranoia keeps him from roboticizing himself completely despite how much he craves it.
In his own demented way, Robotnik truly does think he is doing what is best for people. In his mind, most creatures are already willing slaves for arbitrary institutions and customs, all too eager to submit themselves to these things and allow themselves and others to suffer pain and degradation because actually attempting to make the world a better place is too much for them. In his view, he grants people the ultimate freedom- freedom from ever having to struggle under the burden of free will and decision, freedom from the weakness and decay of the flesh, freedom from the irrationality of passion. People place little real value on freedom as it is, in his mind, squandering it and driving the world towards self-destruction anyway. By Robotnik’s reasoning, he is simply making the world a more fair and honest place, for EVERYONE is equal under Robotnik… equally *inferior*. Whatever altruism might be gleaned from his motives though is so completely buried and dictated by his utterly sadistic sense of egomania it makes little objective difference in the end.
There is however a chink in Robotnik’s almost nigh-impenetrable armor- Sonic the Hedgehog. Words cannot begin to describe the sheer, intense loathing that Robotnik feels for the teenaged hedgehog. Few creatures on Mobius can make Robotnik lose his cool and make him fly off the handle the way Sonic can, and Robotnik hates him to the point of self-destruction. Aside from Sonic, the only other creature Robotnik in any way fears is the sorcerer Ixis Naugus, whom Robotnik is completely terrified of. These two beings prove that despite everything Robotnik claims and likes to think about himself, he is still all too human and all too organic, and for that, he despise the both of them more than anything in all of Mobius.
Perhaps the most monstrous thing about Robotnik is that he is not deluded or disconnected from how regular people think and act. He is wholly capable of understanding others and getting into their heads, and able to acknowledge the good in people and the power it can give them. Hope, love, kindness, morality… these are not alien concepts to him, nor does he dismiss them as ‘weak’. It is just, in his mind, their value and worth is severely undermined by the simple fact that those who do their best for the sake of goodness are woefully outnumbered by the selfish or even malicious, making it all rather pointless in the long run.
The best way to describe it is that Robotnik is sane enough to understand EVERYTHING about his actions and goals, and crazy enough to not care… and this, if possible, makes Robotnik an even worse person than even his enemies could dream of.
Strengths:
Robotnik’s greatest and most infamous strength is the power of his mind- he is a scientific polymath with vast knowledge of fields both academic and theoretical, especially in fields pertaining to technology, AI and robotics. Few others on Mobius can match Robotnik’s scientific brilliance, and none so far have managed to exceed him. He is able to process, analyze and memorize data at an astoundingly fast rate well beyond that of ‘normal’ people, even when compared to those similarly regarded as geniuses.
Beyond his scientific acumen, Robotnik is also well versed in the history, legends and lore of Mobius and its cultures, and is able to speak several standard languages and a few dead ones.
Robotnik’s intellect also transfers itself into other areas- he is an expert (as well as experienced) tactician, strategist and planner, and possesses tremendous insight into the emotional and psychological insight of others that makes him particularly skilled at deception and manipulation. Not for nothing was Robotnik able to rise to the upper echelons of the Royal Army and eventually earn the rank of Warlord. He is capable of forming plans within plans, numerous backups and even accurately gauge and predict the movements of others based upon observation. Despite his arrogance and egotism, appeals to his vanity rarely work as well as others might think.
Besides his mind, Robotnik possesses several physical advantages as well. His cybernetic eyes and ears have enhanced senses far beyond a normal human’s that allow permit him to see and hear in multiple spectrums and wavelengths. Likewise he has further augmented his body with internal cybernetics over the years, replacing many of his organs and bones with machinery, granting him physical strength and durability far greater than even his tremendous size would indicate. These cybernetics have made him all but immune poison as well as having fortified him against the aging process, hence his ability to survive the toxic environment of Robotropolis without issue and the fact that he has seemingly not aged in the ten years since the coup. Nanites in his blood stream speed up the healing process and allow for repair of his bionics if they are damaged, allowing him to recover from injury at an accelerated rate.
Robotnik’s roboticized arm (gained in a mysterious incident during the days of the coup) is possessed of even greater strength than the rest of him and has been modified to possess several built-in weapons, including a high power laser gun in his index finger, an electroshock generator in the palm of his hand that can generate enough power to stun or kill a target, three miniaturized high impact heat seeking missiles, and a plasma generator that can sheath his forearm in a wreath of energy, which can be shaped into a force-field for defense or directed into a powerful blast capable of melting through reinforced steel with the ease of a hot knife through butter.
Owing to his years of military service, Robotnik is a greater than average close combatant- better than most at fighting and demonstrating a bit of noteworthy skill in as a grappler and wrestler, though ultimately he is no match for a truly dedicated fighter, relying more on his great strength than anything. He prefers to not engage in close combat unless absolutely necessary (or when feeling an overwhelming need to kill someone with his bare hands). By contrast he is a spectacular marksman and knows how to operate a wide range of firearms.
Despite his large size, years spent fighting an opponent who moves faster than the speed of sound has granted Robotnik startlingly quick reflexes that bely his bulk.
Robotnik is quite skilled in the operation of any number of vehicles be they made for the land, the sea or the air, though generally he prefers hover vehicles.
Weaknesses:
The only force on Mobius that can be said to exceed his brilliant mind is his utterly diseased sense of pride and megalomania.
Robotnik’s egotism is unmatched across Mobius- he views himself as a perfect mind trapped within an imperfect body, far superior to any other creature on the face of the planet, and as far as he is concerned he won the war for Mobius a long time ago. Having seized control of the virtual entirety of Mobius and crushed all the armies and earlier opposition movements that rose to defy him has left Robotnik with a sense that he cannot truly be defeated. All the major battles have already been won, and everything left is little more than a diversion for his amusement. While it would be wrong to categorize this as making him behave stupidly, he has a tendency to give others more openings than one might think and to underestimate the true depth of a threat until it takes him by surprise. As such he is often unprepared for defeat, and responds VERY poorly to things going so far astray as to be out of his control.
Even more than his general egomania, Robotnik’s biggest weakness can be summed up in three words- Sonic the Hedgehog. Robotnik completely and utterly *despises* Sonic to a truly frightening extent. Robotnik doesn’t merely want to see Sonic killed or Roboticized- he wants Sonic to be utterly broken and humiliated, reduced to a husk of his former self, all at Robotnik’s hands. As a result of Robotnik’s all-consuming, self-destructive hatred of Sonic, he tends to focus obsessively upon Sonic whenever he is within range, often at the expense of everything else that could be a threat. While Robotnik is cognizant of the fact that Sonic is not the exclusive source of his setbacks, he has come to view Sonic as a symbol of his failures and all the things that remain outside of his control, and consequently Sonic attracts the bulk of his ire. Robotnik would GLADLY shoot himself in the foot and cripple himself, if it meant that doing so would kill Sonic in the process.
The only other creature to impact Robotnik’s psychology as badly as Sonic is the wizard Naugus- more than hatred, Robotnik *fears* Naugus completely and utterly. Knowing what Naugus is capable of with his magic and twisted imagination and having repeatedly suffered under the Wizard’s hand in the past has left Robotnik with a crippling, primal terror of Naugus. The prospect of the sorcerer’s involvement in anything is enough to give Robotnik pause, and the wizard’s physical presence is enough to make Robotnik run for cover.
A control freak through and through, situations where Robotnik is aware he isn’t in control tend to make him agitated and irrational- he is especially prone to becoming this way when in forests and other wilderness areas, and if given a choice prefers to not leave his cities or bases. Likewise, for all that he projects as a man of self-control, his temper is truly explosive and triggering it makes him prone to rash decision making.
On a physical front, much like his mind the sources of Robotnik’s strength are also a source of major weakness. Jokes about his corpulence aside, his bionic enhancements have made him negatively buoyant- while he knows how to swim, it is of little use because his physical density makes him sink like a rock when in water. While he compensates by wearing hover boots at all times, Robotnik still tends to be at risk for drowning. Similarly, though he has surprising agility, he is not very fast moving otherwise.
While Robotnik’s cybernetics have strengthened his immune system to the point where poisons and toxins have little sway over him, he is not so immune to diseases or venom- he is resistant against these things to be sure, but resistance is not the same thing as immunity and ultimately he is still susceptible to these things. Likewise, while his bionics are capable of self-repair, it is possible to damage them beyond their ability to do so- this is especially perilous for Robotnik, for if this were to happen to him outside of any of his territories he would be doomed. Only a few people outside of Robotnik himself have the knowledge to properly repair them, and fewer still have the tools for the job.
Finally, Robotnik’s single biggest weakness is the fact that it’s him against the world- he has no allies or friends to depend on, and he knows that his own lackey and nephew would rather see him dead. He can turn to no one and trust no one, and every living thing in the planet is aligned against him. He is in a perpetual state of war, and as such can never truly leave his empire unescorted or unarmed.
History:
The early details of Robotnik’s life are something of a mystery. The few concrete facts available is that he was born in the human city-state of Metropolis, was the middle child of three siblings, and then changed his surname to ‘Kintobor’ before leaving his home and emigrating to the Kingdom of Acorn. Otherwise, the precise events of his early life, his family and all other details pertaining to his background are murky and vague at best, with much of the documentation lost or destroyed as a result of his takeover of Mobius. Robotnik himself is intensely private on the subject.
What is known is that in the year 3193, Julian Kintobor moved in to Mobotropolis to attend the Royal Science Academy on academic scholarship. During his time in the academy he met and befriended a young Charles Hedgehog, the two swiftly bonding over their shared intellects and passion for science. The two would set records for the time it took them to graduate from the revered institute, both of them earning numerous PHDs and doctorates despite their youth. Brimming with potential and ambition, the two joined with the Ministry of Science and swiftly established themselves as rising stars within the ministry.
The good times would eventually come to an end. Several years later and at the peak of their careers, the young scientists allowed their ambitions to override their sense, and engaged in a spectacular, risky experiment in the hopes of revolutionizing the world. Their grand designs came crashing down around their heads, and there was a terrible accident. Though no lives were lost, the two were poised to suffer dearly for their recklessness. Unwilling to bear his best and only friend suffering ruination, Julian accepted full responsibility for the experiment’s disastrous outcome.
Throwing himself on the mercy of the royal court, Julian pled his case and was able to convince the then reigning King Acorn (Sally’s grandfather) that his intellect and skills were too useful to be wasted on prison time. The king thus commuted Julian’s sentence… to serve as a field engineer under the service of the infamous Colonel Geist. Tasked with overseeing the destruction of the Northern Insurgency, Geist was unpopular with many due to his ruthless and at times inhumane tactics, the result of years spent fighting an unpopular and dirty war on the Kingdom’s behalf. Put through basic training and then shipped overseas, Julian found himself entrenched within the bitter conflict.
The horrors of war left their marks on Julian, both physical and emotional, and Julian came to agree with Geist’s methods and the misanthropic outlook the war had carved within him. Gradually Julian rose through the ranks and earned a position as a tactician, serving as Geist’s right-hand man. Eventually the Kingdom of Acorn would claim victory over the Insurgency, and Julian would return to Mobotropolis a changed man with new ambitions. Rather than return to the science ministry, he continued to do work with the military, overseeing the royal army’s R&D and continuing to serve as an active commander. By the time the Great War began, he had already attained the rank of general… and had already begun to make plans.
In 3219, Julian Kintobor ascended to the rank of Warlord, assuming control of the Kingdom of Acorn’s entire military apparatus. Under his guidance, the badly battered Acorn Royal Army began to turn the tide against its enemy. It was during this time that Julian would revolutionize the face of warfare on Mobius by inventing and deploying the first mass-produced robotic soldiers the planet would see- The Swatbots. At first developed purely to provide support, in time more and more Swatbots would be deployed along with other automated war machines, and by the wars final years they carried the entire war effort. This, combined with other technological advancements initiated and overseen by Julian, would eventually lead to the Kingdom of Acorn’s victory 3223.
Hailed as a hero and credited with the Great War’s end, Julian would spend the subsequent year of peace using his position and clout to put in motion his own plans, tightening his control over the Kingdom while eliminating key personnel who could potentially threaten his plans. Through his sustained friendship with Sir Charles Hedgehog, he eventually learned of the abandoned Roboticizer project. Seeing the potential for the device, he secretly procured the blueprints for the technology, using it as a base to devise his own take on the concept- the most perfect slave maker, the machine that would be most crucial to his intended conquest of Mobius. With the aid of his nephew Snively, Julian would carefully begin to set things up for his eventual conquest of Mobius.
It was during this time that Julian would also begin to investigate the legendary objects of Mobius, which in turn would bring him into a ‘partnership’ with the wizard Ixis Naugus. Suffering through the temperamental wizard’s abuses for the sake of his knowledge, he would aid Naugus in creating a means to breach the dimensions and enter the mysterious realm known as ‘The Void’, a zone created by Naugus’ magic yet beyond his reach. Betraying Naugus and trapping him in the Void, Robotnik gladly closed that chapter of his life and left with research he had managed to accrue with the Wizard.
In the year 3224, Julian would at last put his plan in motion. Using a backdoor program hidden within the Swatbot Army’s central control computer, he gained control over every Swatbot army stationed across Mobius, launching a coup against the Kingdom of Acorn and attacking the Kingdom of Acorn’s allies, still weakened and rebuilding from the Great War. Mobotropolis fell within a day, and King Acorn was captured and banished to the Void. Renouncing his old name, Julian declared himself ‘Robotnik’, the new tyrant and overlord of all Mobius, and Mobotropolis to be the capitol of his new empire.
In the decade that followed, Robotnik expanded his initial holdings through brutal campaigns of conquest, genocide and enslavement, roboticizing much of the global population while simply destroying anything too troublesome. Nation after nation fell to him, and all who rose up in opposition were destroyed, allowing Robotnik to carry out his dreams of transforming Mobius into a world of machines, polluting and scarring the earth with ruthless resource extraction designed to render the world a hellish wasteland inhospitable to organic life.
In recent years, a new group has arisen to challenge Robotnik’s dominance over the globe- a band of Freedom Fighters, led by none other than the lost Princess Sally Acorn. Rendered complacent by his years of success, Robotnik would discover that THIS group would not be as easily dealt with as the others, particularly thanks to an individual who has since become the bane of his existence- Sonic the Hedgehog.
The rest is history.

Other Info:
-Theme Song: Protector, by Iron Savior.
-Robotnik’s jumpsuit is impact and energy resistant, offering him some protection against damage. At all times he wears a pair of hover boots to allow him a fast exit when needed, and keeps a laser pistol holstered against his back as well. While his bionic arm means he is never without a weapon, he finds it useful to have all the same.
-Contrary to what his appearance might suggest, Robotnik’s corpulence is not due to over-eating but rather due to a glandular condition that causes him to accumulate body fat at an accelerated weight regardless of diet. Robotnik ironically dislikes having to eat, and takes his food in the form of nutrient pills and slurries for efficiency’s sake and to keep his remaining organic components healthy. When he was younger he used to work out in order to keep his weight at bay, but by the present has given up on that.
-When excited or angry, Robotnik’s eyes will begin to glow red. He has a bit of control over this provided he can keep his emotions in check.
-For all that he did to Charles, he still regards him as the only worthwhile friend he ever had. His keeping Charles roboticized rather than destroying him even when it would personally hurt Sonic is his twisted way of honoring their old friendship- making him ‘useful’ to his empire as a worker bot rather than reducing him to scrap.
-Robotnik’s reputation of hating music belies the fact that he is actually a rather spectacular singer himself, and is rather skilled with keyboarded instruments.
-Robotnik is no longer able to feel sexual attraction towards anything, though he is not asexual. He had his sex drive removed due to both his resentment at the idea of being at the mercy of his own hormones and as an expression of his extreme loathing for organic life, part of which manifests itself as an extreme disgust with sex and sexuality. Attempting to seduce him is NOT advised. The best way to describe Robotnik is that he is MILITANTLY celibate.
-He doesn’t like to swear- he views it as a sign of lesser intelligence, and so prefers to speak very properly and formally.
-Within his command room there is a very large red button labeled ‘Self-Destruct’. Pressing this button will immediately send a powerful electrical jolt through whoever presses it, killing them instantly and messily. Robotnik put it there to amuse himself, and keeps track of all the people who actually pushed it and died. So far the score is up to seven.
-Robotnik is actually well aware that torture rarely ever yields real results. He just enjoys hurting people. He’s made a game out of seeing who will actually tell the truth and who will tell him what he wants to hear.
-Robotnik has a personal laboratory that he visits when not running the world. He goes there to build and test machines and satisfy his scientific curiosity with various projects… it also serves as a means to vent his more sadistic tendencies, his way of mixing business with pleasure letting it double as a private torture parlor.
-He has no real affection for Cluck- he built her as an expression of egotism, to show that he could build a better bird than nature itself could. He does however appreciate and enjoy her ability to torment Snively.
-Robotnik really, really loves pinball. He’s probably the best player on all of Mobius. He even has a private room filled with pinball machines from before the coup, all there for his own enjoyment. He’s the guy in charge after all- he can do what he wants!
-Robotnik’s actually rather reluctant to use nuclear weapons, though he did so several times in the past. While they get results, they also irradiate the landscape and spoil the resources he needs, interfering with communication and making resource extraction difficult to near impossible. Even worse, the lingering radioactivity and genetic alterations caused to living organisms interferes with the Roboticization process, robbing him of the labor they could provide as Robians.
-Robotnik’s fear of losing control is why he has yet to Roboticize himself, despite the fact he loathes his organic form. He is deeply paranoid of the prospect of someone managing to re-program his newly computerized mind, and so will only Roboticize himself once he is ABSOLUTELY certain of his hold over Mobius. Until then he has made due with replacing his body parts over the years with machinery.
