Alright, this idea has come up a couple of times now and I feel it should be put up to a majority vote.
As it stands right this moment, human/anthro hybrids are technically not allowed due to the approval team's mixed feelings on the subject. Human/anthro relationships have always been viewed as perfectly fine, but hybridism has always been met with a solid "*headtilt*". THAT SAID, the board has always allowed hybrids within a certain reason, and there's even an example of canon hybrids both in the games (Fang, disputably) and in other continuities. The rule has always been they've been asked to make a loose measure of biological sense - mammal/mammal, reptile/reptile, etc with, for example, mammal/reptiles getting a veto.
Part of the approval team's problems with human hybrids is that we feel it veers into "anime catgirl/monstergirl" territory and that it feels really out of place in the atmosphere of the Sonic world. BUT, by our own loose rules on hybridism, Humans are members of the animal kingdom and part of the mammal family, therefore logically they should be able to produce hybrids with other mammals.
So yeah. Basically, we're sat at a solid "uhhh" on this and would like to get a feel for the majority's feelings on this
Input is encouraged!

I kind of want to see it-- it'd be interesting, to say the least. Plus, it kind of evens the separation between humans and mobians. There's no reason for their relationships to not happen as sentient creatures.
I think only that the offspring would be regarded as strange in-universe? I think it would be definitely Not Common at all and might invite some curious looks.
EDIT: What if we don't allow 'hybrids' of humans but allow them to reproduce in the Archie way, a la you get either a human or a mobian, no in-between?

I say yes, and I'm curious on the characters made from this.

I feel it should be allowable - but as a heavily restricted role that needs a good story behind it.
After all - there technically is one already (I know Sera/Sarah's status as a hybrid is debated, but IIRC her tail moves on its own so she probably is one). I feel like such hybrids should be very, very rare with couples like this almost never producing a viable embryo, but still a one in a million chance.
So basically yeah but super restricted.

Seconding the previous sentiment(s). Being that an idea of mine was the reason this poll was made I obviously have some stake in this, but even if it were to be approved I would argue in favor of restrictions on it.
I feel like hybrids shouldn’t simply be one note characters, but like any other character their roles should be impactful in some way; the political and social ramifications of their existence would be very interesting to explore, but it shouldn’t just be an excuse because someone wants to play their sexy cat girl OC or whatever.
Additionally, I feel that the suggestion of the Archie approach of “interbreeding but no offspring with shared characteristics” has some merit. I’m heartened to see the response has been positive thus far but even if the decision is approved I’m going to make sure that the character I’m hoping to play isn’t trite or cliche’d.

I'm a little hesitant so far as SEGA hybrids, just because I'm not sure what kind of can of worms allowing hybrids between thropes and humans would open, but I agree with it being a restricted role with some regulatory conditions.
I agree with the suggestions of Bunnikkila and Zonerunner, Such as hybrids being very rare and the offspring having a very very small amount of shared traits, if any. (Personal aesthetics aside, like small traits like unusual eyes / earshape, and maybe..MAYBE ONE functional trait from the thrope side, but otherwise identical to one side or the other.)
