Name:
Hope Agnes Kintobor
Nicknames:
N/A
Species:
Human (Homo sapiens)
Gender:
Female
Age:
14
Alignment:
Lawful good
Height:
5’3”. Hope is roughly average for her age and species.
Residence:
G.U.N. HQ, Central City
World of Origin:
Gaia
Occupation:
Mechanic and roboticist for G.U.N.; college student
Personality:
Generous by nature, Hope knows all too well what it’s like to have family misunderstand or disdain one’s passions; as such, she strives to be that anchor of support to those that need it. An open and friendly person without a shy bone in her body, Hope makes friends easily and seems to have a particular way of drawing out the best in people, making her the sunny center of a social group she joins (or inserts herself into).
Despite her general good cheer, Hope really appears to have only one response to disappointments and setbacks: anger. After living so long with her family’s clear disapproval, Hope responds to criticism by lashing out - where someone else might be sad or discouraged Hope vents her frustrations with temper. Above all, she will not tolerate a betrayal of her good faith, and someone who earns her wrath is unlikely to get back into her good graces anytime soon.
Strengths:
Physical: Due to working on machines alone for the past several years, Hope is surprisingly strong - though not a match for a trained fighter, she is capable of lifting weights quite a bit greater than one might expect as well as having little trouble wrenching nuts, bolts, and troublesome jar lids into submission.
Mental: Steadfast and resilient, Hope isn’t one to let others’ opinions determine what she does. Set on going her own way, she pursues goals to their conclusion regardless of circumstance, and very little could ever stand in her way. An extremely skilled mechanist, Hope has been known to build fantastic machines with little outside input, and her coding skills are no slouch either.
Weaknesses:
Physical: Strong as she is, Hope’s no fighter - in a combat situation it’s readily apparent that she has no idea what she’s doing, and with no training and only average speed and stamina it’s easy to overwhelm or subdue her. Her fair skin also makes her vulnerable to sunburn.
Mental: Though generally optimistic, Hope has a strong tendency to take everything personally: any pushback against her designs or other criticism is seen as criticism of her personally, and tends to make her resentful and sulky at best and explosively angry at worst.
Emerald Abilities:
N/A
History:
After the ARK incident, the Robotnik family was in disgrace. While no one outside a handful of GUN operatives knew the truth of the situation, it was clear something had occurred on the colony, and the scapegoating of Gerald Robotnik left the family an object of suspicion to certain people. To escape scrutiny, Gerald’s younger brother Gene went into witness protection, reversed his family name, and made every effort to scrub the association from his branch of the family. It was this branch that produced Hope: Gene’s great granddaughter.
An early prodigy in mechanical engineering, Hope soon found that her talents made her something of a black sheep; while she never felt rejected or unloved, the fears of those relatives old enough to remember their true identity made for a difficult environment for a blooming scientist. As she grew up Hope’s stubborn determination to pursue her abilities to the fullest further alienated her from older family members and the younger ones following their example. Even so, she progressed through school with conspicuous ease, skipping several grades and set to graduate high school before she turned fourteen.
Unsure that her parents would support her continued education if she insisted on robotics and mechanical engineering, Hope began efforts to create something that would land her a sure scholarship… efforts that caught the attention of G.U.N. when she completed and advertised her first major invention: a portable forcefield that could be carried on one’s person and activated at any time. Eager to share her skills with someone open to listening, when approached Hope happily showed off her Flame Shield as well as her theories for a still-nascent idea: the Zone Piercing Platform. Seeing use and promise in her work, G.U.N. scientists reported the prodigy to HQ; upon graduation Hope was offered a full scholarship and the use of G.U.N.’s lab - unbeknownst to her, a way for the organization to keep an eye on a promising member of a troublesome family - and set to work, pouring her heart into her true passions far from her family’s disapproving gaze. With G.U.N. Hope has worked hard to improve her generator, create and improve the organization’s robots and vehicles… and maybe one day, she’ll get the Platform right too.
Likes:
Machines, robots, the colors black and red, nature, energy drinks, the smell of machine oil, bath bombs, getting to explain her work
Dislikes:
Deep water, having her work belittled, black coffee, restrictive clothing, jams and jellies (the texture is weird, okay? gross.), violence, being lied to
Appearance:
A human of average height and build, Hope has fair skin, slightly curly blonde hair cut just above her shoulders, and blue eyes. She tends toward casual dress favoring reds and blacks, and normally puts forth a cheerful, friendly air.
Other Info:
Carries her shield generator not because she thinks she’ll need it at any given time, but because it’s cool and she likes to show it off.
Hope still has no idea she’s actually a Robotnik.
